Paying Tribute to God. Intentions for Prayer

Sławomir Majda: I watched an episode of The Simpsons, and Homer complained that he pays God every week, and God does nothing.

Agata Pająk: Yes, in fact, he pays and expects something in return. That is interesting — expecting a result from tribute, an offering, perhaps even a bribe? And do you think God also “takes”?

Sławomir Majda: I do not know. After all, He has everything. And He gives everything to everyone.

  1. Our own and, through us, others’ paying, giving voluntarily, obligatorily, or under pressure, regularly or occasionally [for example daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly] to God, for God, on behalf of God, directly or through intermediaries [and correspondingly to all kinds, sizes, ranks, colors, genders of deities, gods, rulers, states, bailiffs, tax collectors, priests and not only them] various tributes, taxes, tithes and their equivalents, substitutes, synonyms, opposites and not only these, and our own and others’ experiencing all consequences of this.
  2. Our own and, through us, others’ expecting and counting on the idea that money and donations given to God [and correspondingly to all kinds, sizes, ranks, colors, genders of deities, gods, rulers, states, bailiffs, tax collectors, priests and not only them] will change our lives and the lives of others in ways expected by us and by others, and not only this, together with our own and others’ experiencing all consequences of this.
  3. Our own and, through us, others’ offering and paying to God [and correspondingly to all kinds, sizes, ranks, colors, genders of deities, gods, rulers, states, bailiffs, tax collectors, priests and not only them] various tributes, taxes, tithes and their equivalents, substitutes, synonyms, opposites, paid in all forms — in goods or money — by ourselves and others, including individual landowners, households, families and not only these, as obligations enforced according to divine law and correspondingly human law for the benefit of rulers, states or communities.
  4. Our own and, through us, others’ offering and paying to God [and correspondingly to all kinds, sizes, ranks, colors, genders of deities, gods, rulers, states, bailiffs, tax collectors, priests and not only them] various tributes, taxes, tithes and their equivalents, substitutes, synonyms and opposites as obligations arising from claims attributed to God, the state and private persons, and not only these, together with our own and others’ experiencing all consequences of this.

Tomek: Could these intentions about paying tribute also apply to paying banks loan installments?

Sławomir Majda: Probably. Expand it for yourself. I did not think about that because the guiding idea was paying God protection money every week like Homer from The Simpsons.

Our own and, through us, others’ supporting God, Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary and not only them from kindness, decency, foolishness, because others do so, and not only this, together with our own and others’ experiencing all consequences of this.
