Poor in Spirit, Meaning Intellectual Dimwits, Fools

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” /MT 5:3/ Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount.

Blessed, and therefore happy, should be those who will follow or are following the path of spiritual poverty. We know what poverty in the material sphere is. We probably know the inability connected with it to satisfy basic needs. Limitations. Experiencing suffering from which one has no power to free oneself because one lacks the means. But there is also experiencing poverty of one’s own free will, by one’s own choice. Renouncing comfort, an easier and lighter life, money, possessions and everything else, so as not to become attached to matter. So that there will be nothing one regrets leaving behind when we are dying.

Blessed are the poor in spirit—what does this mean? What is spiritual poverty, spiritual destitution?

Why is this supposed to be, or why is it, a blessing, as Jesus emphasised in the Sermon on the Mount, placing this blessing first on the list of blessings? Material poverty, destitution and misery mean not only a hard and impoverished life; they are also a form of becoming dependent and being dependent on others. On those who have, who can give, who have an obligation to give…and there is little one needs to worry about. There is no responsibility because there is nothing to be responsible for. What is it like with spiritual poverty?

The more knowledge, independence, wisdom, the greater the heart, the greater the spiritual wealth. Therefore the less knowledge and awareness, where there is enslavement, lack of freedom and submission, where the heart is closed, where there is also no responsibility for using them, there may be or there is spiritual poverty.

In fact, blessed are the poor in spirit may have patterns of dimwittedness, may in some way be dull, intellectually limited. It is easy to manage and manipulate such people. Always humble, always enslaved, always suffering, even merely because others have succeeded, full of guilt, even for the sins of the world, free from responsibility for using the mind, free from knowledge. Therefore, blessed, happy according to the teachings of Jesus, according to everyone for whom the New Testament is a guide, are those who do not strive for development, awareness, Light, Love, God, but these are the poor in spirit—dimwits. Why is it so important to keep people, souls, beings convinced that poverty in matter is the road to spiritual poverty—dimwittedness, which in turn is the road to the Kingdom of Heaven, and even a place there?

The poor in spirit, and therefore the limited ones, upon whom “from here to here” is imposed so that they do not think independently, so that they do not invent anything, so that they remain stuck within limitations and are still convinced that they themselves want this and that it is the highest happiness. These are precisely the ones who will serve, and even already serve, others who are rich in matter and in spirit. Blessed are the poor in spirit—meaning those who do not possess an excess of reason, who display a lack of sharpness, an inability to recognise things as they are, and a limited ability to make associations and foresee consequences, but who are characterised by pride…and stupidity.

The blessing of spiritual poverty means promoting stupidity, intellectual limitations, dimwittedness and also experiencing these things. After all, a shepherd finds it easier to lead sheep limited in intellect. There are many groups making sure that there will always be a handful of rich people and a vast number of poor people—in matter. For centuries nothing has changed for the better, apart from the growing number of dimwits. Those poor people were usually subjects of the rich. Dependent on them. What is it like with spiritual poverty?

A vast number of limited, stupefied and blinded people kept on a “leash of limitations” are subjects of and dependent upon a handful of spiritually rich and “well-fed” souls. And nothing indicates that the poor in spirit, after a phase of poverty both in matter and in spirit, will experience enlightenment. After all, if you are spiritually stupid, then you will remain that way.

Nothing indicates that dimwits will find themselves closer to God, especially while breaking the Second Commandment of the Decalogue.
