A Carrot Medal

A friend had, “since always,” an astral gadget—a kind of remote control (like for a TV)—which he used for… let’s say… he considered it useful. Having lost trust in things coming from the astral (of unknown origin), he symbolically handed the gadget over to the Creator. Before doing so, he remarked that he would like something better in return, but worried that the Creator might give him a rubber remote (a toy) instead. As he said, so it happened.

Another case involved a person who came to me and, at the level of the soul, was entirely decorated with carrot medals—like a North Korean general.

Earlier that morning, she had heard:
— “You will receive a reward,”
and, suspecting a trick or disappointment, she replied:
— “Hopefully it won’t be a carrot medal.”

Such situations may be seen as deception or as the Creator’s malice. But notice: when the Creator gives something according to His own will, it is not according to the recipient’s preferences. (Asking for something is a different matter; here we are discussing gifts and grace.)

Let us suppose we hear:
— “I will give you a car.”
The “correct” response might be:
— “I accept, together with my Soul and our entire being, in Your terms, Creator, according to Your will and light, under Your responsibility.”

Someone who accepted in this trusting way later bought, with ordinary money, a standard imported car—but equipped with features and extras that average mechanics had never even heard of.

Another example: a woman hears from the Creator:
— “I give you a husband and a child.”
The appropriate response might be:
— “I accept in Your terms, Creator.”

Suggesting at that moment that the husband should, for example, have a large nose might later result in her teasing him as “you liar.” Or the Creator might decide that, for someone so picky, it is better to only look at men’s noses on the street.

* “God, through Your love give me everything that is better than being a bodhisattva” — from another prayer (“The Fall of the Bodhisattva”) — is a different context. When one sees no way out of entanglements, one may ask the Creator to give something better than a given state (according to divine criteria).

This article discusses situations where the soul and personality try to define what they want, even though they do not truly know, or believe they deserve something they have not earned.
