Bhagavad Gita. Prologue—Idolatry and Its Consequences

Please, Light, open now my heart, Soul, my entire being, and let the day of faith begin.

I have forgiven the fact that, in narcotic intoxication, I once regarded myself together with my Soul as God Almighty, while other similar gods were supposed to follow my lordly and pseudo-“divine” will.

I have forgiven the fact that I once felt, together with my Soul, like a hero, a sorcerer, a generous sage-king, a king and gracious benefactor.

Together with my Soul, I have forgiven the fact that we once imagined that I was the merciful living god who measures the expanses, unfathomable, possessing miraculous and irresistible power, who moved aside the heavens themselves and the sun.

Together with my Soul, I have forgiven the fact that I once proclaimed myself to the world as a fertility deity—an enormous bull, full of power—as the one who remains above everything, above heaven and earth.

Together with my Soul, I have forgiven the fact that I once proclaimed myself to the world as a living god who spread out the earth, stretched out the celestial expanses, and stretched out the earth according to his own law.

Together with my Soul, I have forgiven the fact that I once proclaimed myself to the world as a living god who is the only son of infinity, as the one who established the two worlds, placed the sun in the heavens, and made the heavens firm.
