Music That God Likes
Sometimes people ask whether the music they like is good and beneficial for spiritual development.
Each of us has their own musical taste, but at the same time, everyone willingly or passively listens to the lyrical content promoted along with the music. So which music is the most appropriate?
What good, what benefit can music bring to us or others, for example:

- religious music
- military music
- music of the Solidarity bards
- the music of Stachura
- Baroque music, e.g. Johann Sebastian Bach, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Antonio Vivaldi, Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki, George Frideric Handel?
Young people often ask about modern genres such as various forms of metal, chillout, etc. No one has yet asked about the value of contemporary classical music, for example Arvo Pärt, Karol Szymanowski, Krzysztof Penderecki.

Musical tastes are immeasurable. Therefore, the only criterion may be to surrender those tastes to God for healing. Let us ask God what kind of music He likes. What would He recommend to us as the most appropriate?
Military or marching music sets a tone of aggression and may lead to killing, which inevitably brings chaos and suffering. Who else but God must later heal the wounds of hearts and souls? Let us consider whether God supports the promotion of such music.
The music of the Solidarity bards is perfect in its sound layer. Yet it is worth noting that both of these men died from throat-related illnesses, including cancer. It appears as if their souls no longer wished to hear words about Cossack units, problems, and suffering. Similarly, the work of Stachura was also heavy and depressing, ending in his suicide.
Metal music and similar emotionally intense genres, together with their lyrics, stimulate certain reflections. We should ask whether these reflections are positive for everyone, whether they are pleasing to God. Do they lead to harmonious cooperation with others? Do they bring joy of existence? If not, perhaps it is worth looking for something else.
Religious music, as we know, leads to God—but it is not always clear to which one. Musically, songs devoted to deities and goddesses of various religions may be good. The question remains whether the lyrical content is also pleasing to God. Does God take pleasure in songs praising Krishna, Brahma, Vishnu, serenades to the Virgin Mary, or in the choral exaltation of the Holy Trinity as equal to God?

Let us assume as a given that God desires harmonious coexistence among all beings within the environment He created. Disharmony causes some beings to distance themselves from unpleasant vibrations, sounds, and words—just as most people distance themselves from someone who has not washed for many days. So who else but God will again strive for peaceful integration of all with all? And such integration is impossible in disharmony expressed through words, sounds, and vibrations.

No one is able today to compose similar music (I am leaving aside the lyrical layer). Beautiful musical works were created en masse for nearly 700 years. And centuries ago, across the entire Earth, this tendency disappeared—just like the ability to build massive megalithic stone structures. Today, humanity can only reproduce the beauty that was created long ago in music.
